N,N-Dimethyl-N-hydroxyethyl-N-octyl bis(trifluoromethyl)sulfonamide salt is an ionic liquid with the chemical formula C18H36F6N2O4S2 and a molecular weight of approximately 530.62 g/mol.This compound usually appears in the form of a colourless to pale yellow liquid, with good solubility and thermal stability.
It is widely used as an electrolyte in the field of electrochemistry, e.g., in devices such as batteries and supercapacitors. In addition, due to its good solubility, it can also be used as a solvent in organic synthesis and chemical reactions. This ionic liquid is also used in catalysts, material synthesis, etc. This compound is usually prepared by organic synthesis methods, which can be obtained by reacting thionyl chloride and the corresponding amine compound.
Care should be taken when using it as it may be irritating to the eyes and skin, and contact should be avoided by direct contact. Ventilation should be observed during use to avoid inhalation of its vapours. When stored, it should be kept in a dry and ventilated place, away from ignition sources and oxidising agents.
